Foxboro, MA – The South Shore Kings are excited to announce NCDC Captain, and 2024-2025 NCDC Founders Cup Champion Jake Owens has committed to the admissions process at Tufts University!

Owens, a native of Chittenango, NY, is in his 2nd season with the South Shore Kings NCDC team. In 2024-2025, Jake recorded a 12-19-31 line in 55 regular season games. He also appeared in all 11 playoff games and helped the Kings reach the Dineen Cup Finals for the 3rd straight year. He was named Co-Captain in early September. Jake is off to a great start in his 2nd season. Through 10 games, he has a 4-4-8 line.

“Playing for the South Shore Kings over the past two years has been an awesome experience. The high level of competition and strong team culture has really helped me grow as a player. The coaches have created an environment where everyone can improve and stay motivated, and I’ve learned a lot from their guidance. Overall, it’s been a great place to develop and be part of a tight-knit team.” – Jake Owens

“I am very happy for Jake and his family. The growth both as a person and as a hockey player has been fun to watch. He is everything you want as a coach. Jake is well respected by his peers. He shows up day in and day out and leads by example. Last season, Jake was in a depth role for us. It took some time at the beginning of the season getting adjusted to junior hockey. What impressed me the most early on was how coachable he was. He was willing to stick to the process. He took a big step towards the second half of last season. He gave us depth scoring and helped us get back to the Dineen Cup Finals. I look forward to watching Jake succeed at the next level.” – GM/Head Coach Tyler Holske

Tufts University is a proud member of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

Congratulations to Jake and his family on this outstanding accomplishment!
